The revered monarch of Upata kingdom in Rivers State, HRM Eze Dr. Felix Otuwarikpo, JP, AP has called on government at all levels to address the issue of human capital development as a strategy for peace building.
The monarch made this call during a live TVShow monitored in Port Harcourt, he said one of the ways government can guarantee a safe society is to embark on aggressive human capital development.
Eze Otuwarikpo,noted that traditional rulers are major drivers in peace building,therefore,should always be accessible by their subjects as a measure to overcoming security challenges in their domain.
The Upata monarch,however,appealed to traditional rulers to ensure peace and harmony amongst their subjects, pointing out that a traditional ruler should be knowledgeable and equipped with democratic norms as a vehicle for peaceful coexistence.
Eze Otuwarikpo advised traditional rulers to be good listeners,noting with clarity that peace is achievable through the institution of viable developmental agenda aimed at empowering the youths.
He noted that the Upata Kingdom initiated a programme,tagged’One Youth,One Skill’ which was designed to carter for youths who have desire for gainful skill for self reliant and employable opportunities,adding that the first batch of trainees recently graduated.
