The Rivers State Governor,Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is expected to officially attend the peace rally planned to welcome home the people of Ula Ikata community displaced by a land related crisis.
Eze Felix Otuwarikpo,Eze Igbu Upata III gave the information during the meeting of the Igbu Upata Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs,urging for peace amongst all communities in his domain.
The crises which has claimed lives and property worth billions destroyed including school, churches and shrines seem over as parties have agreed to sheath their sword for peace.
This follows the intervention of the Igbu Upata monarch and the Igbu Upata Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs.
Amidst cheers,the warring groups signed a peace accord in the presence of Eze Otuwarikpo, Community leaders and Chief Levi Onyiri,Chairman of Igbu Upata Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs. Youth and women leaders were also present.
Chief Henry Ogbugo signed for his Umudho Dike family,while Mr. Emedhem Simeon Ekpor (Bello) represented Umudho Izu and Chief Chidebem Chiko Ogboka,the community’s paramount ruler witnessed for the community.
While extolling the parties for accepting to live in peace,Eze Otuwarikpo urged them to always shun violence.
Chief Ogboka in response praised the monarch for living up to his promise,assuring that the people will remain grateful to the throne for “this singular fatherly role”.
